Comment 92 for bug 311716

I read somewhere it was possible to get the function of the keys back by using an older kernel. Is there anyway to tell acpi to get its hands off the brightness keys and video brightness without turning off acpi completely? I don't care if gnome can't control my brightness, I just want the convenience of being able to use the keys properly.
