By the way, I've followed this http://moinejf.free.fr/gspca_README.txt and
still it shows black image or weird image.
I've tried as suggested there with
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/local/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so and it says:

ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/local/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so' from LD_PRELOAD
cannot be preloaded: ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/local/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so' from LD_PRELOAD
cannot be preloaded: ignored.

I am attaching the image from Kopete (for example).
