The package you're looking for is, I think, linux-backports-modules-2.6.27-7-generic (2.6.27-7.6), not linux-image-whatever. Since I've installed that package (two or three resumes from suspend) I haven't had any problems.
The way I found the package was by filtering for upgradable packages in synaptic after enabling the -proposed repo. The only one that was kernel-related was the backports-modules package.
