Confirmed on Dell Vostro 3300, device ID 138a:0008
After updating the usb ids with
# sudo update-usbids
it gets properly recognized as
# Bus 001 Device 005: ID 138a:0008 Validity Sensors, Inc. VFS300 Fingeprint Reader

Unfortunately I cannot compile the driver from https://github.com/rayl/vfs101driver.
So currently no support in fprint-demo
