linux-restricted-modules needs to ship:
/etc/pm/config.d/madwifi

with the following line:
SUSPEND_MODULES="ath_pci"

this will make sure the module gets properly unloaded in suspend/resume cycles which doesnt happen by default and thus results in a broke wlan connection after a resume.
