I tried the live CD for 8.10 AMD64 and Linux Ubuntu 2.6.27-7-generic kernel.

I could not really complete the test, since Sound Recorder hangs when I press the "Stop" button.

However, if it can be of any use, I ran the alsa script and uploaded the results here:

That said, I'd like to see this fixed in 8.04 as well, since this is supposed to be supported for some time still.
