Can you open another bug on that issue against the gnome-power-manager package, and subscribe dell-team to it? I'm aware of the issue myself, but it would be good to track it while the gnome power manager maintainers triage it.

The updating of the linux-image to the one from proposed fixed the main
issue, however it took away the on screen brightness indication for
many.
