Comment 50 for bug 214786

This problem remains unfixed in Maverick (beta).

I also tried the option mentioned in comment #47, but it doesn't seem to do anything (no, I didn't forget to update-initramfs and reboot). I guess it hasn't made into recent kernels after all. Stefan's kernel.org diff link should provide more information, but unfortunately it's invalid.

The only good news is that the xmodmap workarounds are still working for Maverick -- up to a point, as the mods (a) will be lost after resuming from suspend (and at random other times), (b) do not apply within virtual machines, (c) have to be set up manually for each user, and thus (d) are becoming ever more of a nuisance after all those years.
