Both the ICH5 on my laptop as the ICH6 on my desktop are working perfectly.
Ofcourse i have to keep the saa7134 blacklisted to keep the Hal error away since the developers are still working on a solution for that.

Have you tried to purge the old packages/patches with apt-get purge ?
