Comment 32 for bug 212271

I downloaded alsa-source, I patched the problematic file with the fix (http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/ubuntu-hardy-lum.git;a=commit;h=607ab6f78fa5d51b4dab72d218455a858c499c6f), and recompiled the alsa module. After installing the new alsa modules, I went ahead and rebooted the machine but I am still getting the same issue. I am not sure what's the correct way of doing this recompilation so there's a chance I might have done something wrong. Can I get some pointers as to how to correctly do this?
