Just noticed you wanted 2.6.27-rc8, I used 2.6.27-rc9 does that work?

Dmesg dump attached.

Sequence of events:
- Boot
- Connect 2 ssh sessions
- Turn on USB hard-drive
- Rsync a 1GB directory to the USB drive
- Rsync hangs and keyboard stop responding (assume mouse also but in runlevel 3)
- Ctrl-C the rsync
- Try to unmount the USB drive but it won't unmount
- Turn the USB drive power off then it unmounts ok
- Keyboard still not responding
- rmmod ehci_hcd
- modprobe ehci_hcd
- Keyboard now works again
