Okay, back from work again.
Sorry for the strange things I wrote/asked above. I now read a little into "ehci", "ohci" etc. in Wikipedia to understand a little better. And I installed "device manager" and took a look into it. Could it be that the "sub-version" Troy James wrote about is from Ricoh Co Ltd.? That is the only non-AMD/ATI-thing I found. But is it related to usb?
Today things got worse: When I started my laptop this morning, both printer and hdd-external drive crashed right away before even using them. At the same time it is extremely slow, as if low on memory. Could there be a connection? Well, maybe not.
So, I am attaching the lspci and lspci -vv and lspci -vvn outputs. And the dmesg-output. In the latter are error messages like "no agp bridge found", "aperture beyond 4GB", "ata1: softreset failed (device not ready)", "ata1: failed due to HW bug, retry pmp=0", some errors with ricoh-mmc, and then of course the "usb 6-1: device descriptor read/64, error -110", "usb 6-1: device not accepting address 2, error -110" and the I/O-errors. Of course, there might be no connection between the different errors.
I hope someone understands what this all means and can help...
Thanks a lot!
