Comment 413 for bug 88746

Something just struck me. This error was happening with a previous laptop, but neither my current laptop nor current desktop.

I had an external LaCie HDD, which when formatted with VFAT would show this kind of behaviour but was working fine with EXT2. I know that offhand it doesn't sound like it makes a lot of sense assuming the error is in the USB level code, but can one of you people who can reliably reproduce the error, give it a go with EXT2?
