Maybe it's not because of the length of the cables, but then the quality of them, in my case (case as in situation, not box). I bought the parts in 2003, and probably the case model is older than that. Maybe usb 2.0 was too new then for them to test it properly. Maybe my problem is a bit different than the others here. In Winxp I'm able to use the devices, but just at 1.1 speeds. That is why i suspect the cabling and not the os in my case. And a similar feature as in winxp would be very nice in my case.

I've built the computer myself, and know exactly what's in there. The front ports are connected with wires straight to the pins at the motherboard, so that's not what I would call a hub. But it doesn't work anyway. The ports which does work are the ports directly from the motherboard (no wires), at the back fo the of the case. However, I'm not sure exactly what defines a hub. I place one 10-pin connector to the motherboard, but has two usb-ports at the front. Maybe there is a hub then? So maybe my case would support your theory.
