I am having a similar problem with the Intel Pro 1000 PT desktop card. Here is the output of lspci:

0000:05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation: Unknown device 10b9 (rev 06)

This is after updating my kernel to the one from dapper-proposed. So the kernel update didn't fix my problem.
