I've noticed this as well. The LED is meant to be a heartbeat when in suspend
and is extremely bright and very annoying to have blinking during normal
operation. There has been patches posted to the debian-powerpc list to make this
behavior a runtime option (with /sys/something) and a boot option. The Ubuntu
kernel could integrate that patch perhaps, and please consider disabling the
blinking by default.
