Perhaps you edited the temporary blacklist file in the live CD session
rather than the one on your hard drive?

In other words, when you're in a live CD session, DO NOT type
$ sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist # Note the forward slash before "etc"

as this will edit the blacklist for the temporary session.

Instead, you need to mount your hard drive as in step 7. Let's say the
partition is called "root_partition" (replace this with the name of the
partition that you selected in step 7)

You need to edit the blacklist on that partition:

$ sudo gedit /media/root_partition/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
