Confirmed the bug with Intrepid on an IBM Thinkpad T40p with:

02:02.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev 01)

The SUSPEND_MODULES="ath_pci" fix works at least with my unencrypted WLAN.
