An updated linux-backports-modules-2.6.24 package containing the new ath5k driver has been accepted into hardy-proposed. However, the same problem with the madwifi driver taking precedence still exists, so if you have linux-restricted-modules installed then you will need to blacklist ath_pci or remove the pci id from /usr/share/linux-restricted-modules/2.6.24-19-generic/modules.alias.override/ath_hal
