AAARRRRGHHH ....

It took me two days and crawling the Nvidia forums to sort this one out :(

In case anyone is reading this looking for a solution, here it is :

  sudo rm /lib/linux-restricted-modules/.nvidia.new.installed

I know this is a temporary solution, still ...
