I think that the problem is now fixed on Hardy Heron. As suggested by hamster_billy in this thread <http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=5300779&postcount=10> Installing the drivers from <http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Download> solves the problem. WEP and WPA Connection is possible after the installation of the drivers.
