On my machine:
islam@islam-laptop:~$ dpkg -S iwl3945
linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-8-generic: /lib/modules/2.6.24-8-generic/ubuntu/wireless/iwlwifi/iwlwifi/compatible/iwl3945.ko

So, try to make sure that the package "linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-8-generic" is properly installed and configured!

Please notify me as soon as your iwl3945 module loads correctly (lsmod)...
