No I think it isn't a good idea. At moment it would be cool, but if the new feature (10.10) will be included we have a problem... you can't reach the new feature-stuff. ,)
A button or a ratio-button for change the side is easier to realize and would be a solution for everybody. For me it's perfect how it is now, but I can't think only what I like...
