I set the report to "in progress".
Your workaround shouldn't cause any problem to either the RandR applet or the g-s-d, therefore I think it would be ok to apply it.
We can ask upstream to adopt the patch and see how it goes. Do you want me to do this or do you prefer to do it yourself?
