I don't know why it has been fixed and how...???
We cannot ask every single user to follow a workaround....unthinkable.
The fix must come (and quickly, because it's a mess for the marketing of Kubuntu) from the OFFICIAL REPOSITORY.
The bug is confirmed on Kubuntu 64bit freshly installed, Nvidia 8600M GT and official drivers in "hardware drivers" manager.
Same pattern:
- as long as NVidia proprietary drivers are not installed, Plymouth is fine.
- as soon as NVIdia proprietary drivers get installed, Plymouth becomes ugly
