It seems I fixed this bug, obviously the result is the same you can find in plymouth-theme from Ubuntu, this means no native monitor resolution but it looks best than before ;)

So...need testers, add this in your sources.list:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/alessandro-ghersi/staging/ubuntu lucid main

then upgrade, you should have now kubuntu-default-settings_10.04ubuntu24~ppa2 and plymouth-theme-kubuntu-logo_10.04ubuntu24~ppa2 both installed.

Reboot and see if plymouth theme is not ugly anymore.
