as for the fix mentioned by the blogpost in the other bug, grub2 supports setting the framebuffer resolution with 'GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX' in /etc/default/grub sine 1.98-1, no need to edit any files in /etc/grub.2/ anymore.
