The inconsistency looks as if it may be related to whether flash9 has ever been installed.

On a jaunty system updated from hardy -- no problems.

On a new system, no flash with the default install in konqueror (OK in firefox). Installed the hardy plugin which worked but with no sound (and full-screen was ignored). The reinstalled the jaunty version and it now looks to work (at least the Apollo 11 video on the Guardian main page (www.guardian.co.uk) worked).

In summary at least for me, flash 10 seems to work provided flash 9 has previously been installed!
