I think that Bug 185288 is a duplicate, though is narrower in scope. Looking back, I originally described at least three problems. Thiago provided a patch to fix chained certificate viewing, which was much appreciated, but did nothing to address being unable to import a certificate authority (signer ssl certificate), or view certificate details (signer or otherwise) when connecting to an SSL or TLS service.

Today I noticed that kleopatra, while it CAN import a root CA, cannot allow the user to mark it trusted. Also, it is capable of displaying certificate details appropriately.
