Thank you for the suggestion, but this did not work for me. In fact, for me the file is located at .kde/share/config/kglobalshortcutsrc

Replacing "F12" with "Menu" made YaKuake's shortcut for open/retract unusable. I don't think it will accept Menu as a valid key. Have you tested this yourself with the version mentioned?
