B43 disappears because it is uninstalled by Jockey when switching to STA. It can be reinstalled and loaded, but will not work with network manager, and is not a bug in Jockey. STA requires a restart to update network-manager. Inspiron 1545 users, use STA, although it does still have a few bugs of its own. The update to jockey-common and jockey-gtk (0.5.5-0ubuntu2) allows STA to be loaded. It may have just today propagated through the repositories.
