Comment 36 for bug 415023

I can confirm the patch above doesn't help. Backlight still flickers after patch has been applied.

I noticed that when the backlight flickers there is no gnome-power-manager icon in the panel. Restarting g-p-m a number of times until it stops flickering also make the icon appear.
