I've re-tested with the following:

Jaunty amd64 Alpha3, installed with ext3:

/dev/sda1 /boot (ext3)
/dev/sda5 swap
/dev/sda6 / (ext3)

upgraded to ext4 and it works fine.

Vladimir: I did not add "rootfstype=ext4" to grub menu.lst. What happens when you comment out or remove this?
