The changes can be safely incorporated into Ubuntu because the Debian package is a newly packaged git snapshot. The package builds fine in a lucid chroot:

dpkg-deb: building package `goldendict' in `../goldendict_0.9.1~git20091117-1_i386.deb'.
 dpkg-genchanges >../goldendict_0.9.1~git20091117-1_i386.changes
dpkg-genchanges: including full source code in upload

What about the change you cited above? The .desktop file IS installed in the Debian version.

When there are no remaining changes, you can request a sync. If there are remaining changes (like the .desktop file), you can either explain, why we should drop the change, or you do a merge. Your post indicates that there is no reason for dropping the change.

Therefore please merge the package and resubscribe ubuntu-universe-sponsors, when there is a patch to sponsor.

I had some problems with applying your patch. Please use the debdiff tool next time to provide a diff from the package in Debian testing.

The version was wrong. I have corrected it from 0.9.0+svn354-3ubuntu2 to 0.9.1~git20091117-1ubuntu1.

Attached the debdiff that I applied and uploaded. Thanks.
