Installation does not remove software-store menu item

Do you have edited the menu with a tool like the gnome menu editor? What does your .config/menus/applications.menu file look like?

Of course the item can be edited with the menu editor (alacarte) - that is not the point. The installation of software-center removes and updates the Applications menu properly. It does not however, do the same for the System|Administration menu.

I do not experience this, the menu item is removed correctly.

Closing this bug as to me it seems the problem is fixed, but also this is from a development release and so in the final release this shall be fixed (as software-center will be installed by default)

Although *you* did not experience this, both myself and Dale Jefferson did. Dale was even kind enough to provide a screenshot. Would you like me to provide a screenshot as well?

My karmic installation is a clean test machine install with all updates applied. Whilst you mention that this is a development release, the purpose of reporting a bug is so that the problem can be fixed, preferably *prior* to final release. Simple closing a bug because you did not experience it is certainly not (IMO) the proper way to go about things.

First of all in the next release (ie. the beta) software-store will not be installed at all. software-center will be and so none of these problems shall exist anyway.

Second of all, development releases are said not be be squeaky clean that is why we only use them for testing, and so I don't see the problem if a menu item is left behind. However I value your opinion and so if you feel this is a bug that needs to be solved, please paste the output of 'cd /usr/share/applications && ls'.

Thanks for the added explanation. Given that the beta is scheduled for release in 3 days I'll look for a correction/fix there. However I still think it a good idea to figure out why the application installation failed to remove software-store from System|Administration - if nothing else to prevent a similar event happening with this (or other similar) application installations.

software-center uninstalls correctly (removes menu item) and since no users will see the out dated software-store package this is not a bug.
