If you add the ppa to your sources it should turn up. My sources looks like this:

$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list | grep ppa
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/gnucash/ubuntu hardy main

Attached you find a screenshot showing the entries in synaptic.
