still happening with jaunty - a real pity, lost a couple of hours with this old bug.

This is what I get when I launch gnome-settings-manager in a terminal window inside the vnc (vnc4server) session.

incidentally the VNC resolution i get is also wrong (800x600 all the time, ignoring the -geometry)

I haven't found any workaround for any of these two issues
