Well, I just bought a dual-core laptop with intel i915 graphics - Haven't seen the corruption in the slightest hint since I installed Maverick (it's been about four days). It does have only a 5400 RPM HDD, though, so perhaps the slightly slower boot makes it benefit?
Dunno. I'm afraid this bug will probably not get resolved because of the recent decision to use Unity as the default environment.
