I have the same problem with empty space instead of Network Manager applet icon. But it appears only when I'm resuiming from suspend/hibernate mode. Ubuntu 9.10 x64 clean install, NVidia GeForce 9300M video with 185.18.36 drivers. Any additional info I can provide?
