Interestingly, in natty-alpha3 & newer,
the gnome-panel Main Menu comes up instantly,
scrolling works well, only editing remains tedious.
Of course natty uses the unity-panel-desktop-and so on.
& may not be fully integrated with natty?
So gnome-panel must be added to auto-start,
& then add the menus and applets of ones choice.
