This is the part that does not work for me, only on certain items.

Like you, I used question.wav to test this. This is the ubuntu drums we usually get at the GDM longin prompt.

I just tested it on new installation of the latest Jaunty daily image on different hardware. I still can reproduce this problem with some items, even after having customizing them.

-Toggle button clicked
-Window maximized
-Window unmaximized
-Window minimized
-New e-mail
-Empty Trash
-Battery warning

-Button Clicked still plays the old sound even after having been customized.
