finally found a workaround :)

- disable bluetooth from the bluetooth-applet menu *before* suspending
- supend
- resume
- turn bluetooth back on in bluetooth-applet

not sure if/how you can do this without a mouse, I have a second USB mouse connected to the laptop anyway which I use for this.
