Comment 16 for bug 205079

I had same problem when upgrading from 7.10 to 8.04 beta.

Ultimately, I did a clean install of 7.10 and as a result it called for a lot updates ( so it would be current).

Encountered the same issue (broken dependencies) when the updates attempted to install.

It left my adept manager running in the background. Ran "dpkg -- configure -a" to attempt to correct.
