Same problem here ; dramatic case for me as Gimp-painter 2.6 is my main tool for work , makes all the distro unusable for me.

Here is what I tried without success :
- Update xorg via ppa to xorg edgers
- Update linux-wacom
- Unactivate compiz
- Use Gnome Classic / Gnome Shell / etc...
