The part where the Desktop was affected by flying windows and being unable to select things as reported by Matthew Meyer (osarusan) and trischan (cvargas-z) turned out to be a separate bug from this one. Triggered by using xsetwacom to set the stylus or eraser to Button 1 1, which is the driver default. Bug was found a couple of weeks ago and fixed upstream: http://linuxwacom.git.sourceforge.net/git/gitweb.cgi?p=linuxwacom/xf86-input-wacom;a=commit;h=20958f84eef0b40f91e4559099f342f28650c183 The fix is now in the just released xf86-input-wacom-0.12.0 tar.
So this bug does appear to be Gimp specific. See Alexia Death's comments.
