I have this issue as well. Hardy amd64 with backports repos enabled. Just downgraded from Jaunty today because I was having stability problems, and figured I wouldn't run in to as many problems with an LTS release that's over a year past its initial release. Now I can even easily install the Flash plugin? Really? Very, very disappointing.
