its the obligation of the user to manage whatever they installed in the profile. Ubuntu cannot anything about it. Flashplayer 9 was updated by adobe because it had bad bugs ... as usual.

Remove things from your profile plugins/ folder and you will be fine.

In firefox 3 you will get the ability to manage your profile plugins through the firefox addons manager.
