Not sure, but it might be related to bug #523979 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.5/+bug/523979 They both seem to deal with Firefox hanging in Futex_wait. They also both seem to deal with Firefox requiring to be killed in order to fix.
