Given the loss of functionality (internationalization, ease of switching between types of searches, unexpected search results) and how it affects the appearance of search results (It looks kind of ugly, no? Not very ayatana-friendly), I hope that the folks in charge at Ubuntu reverse this change by removing this extension from the default install.

If this is something that is being put in place for the alpha and beta releases, but will be removed for the final release, I could understand it, as it will bring in a bit of income to support bandwidth costs during the pre-release milestones. If it will be included in the final release, then I think it's a poor decision based on the technical reasons above.

If the decisions about this could be made clear to the community, I think it would help to prevent a ruckus from being raised as more people test out the pre-release versions. Thanks!
