Did you install Ubuntu 8.02 32bit or 64bit, that would be a simple way to answer the question regarding Firefox.

Moreover, there was an update to the Ebay Companion yesterday, I believe it was, so this will most probably solve the problem. I have not had a chance to test this, as I had already used the above mentioned solution.

Also, something to note, I personally don't mind, but some people may have issues with you posting their email address in bug comments.
